Bioeconomy and Corporate GRI Reporting: a Case Study Analysis

Sustainable development is nowadays an issue of highest importance for business and society in order to deal with global challenges. “Bioeconomy” also evolving rapidly on the grounds that a bio-based, or renewables-based economy, instead current fossil fuels-based crucial resolving complex challenges climate change ecosystem depletion. The purpose this paper investigate Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) as tool sustainability reporting firms organizations through case study analysis, placing emphasis environmental axis, effort identify bioeconomy actions, according its definitions. We examine two Greek other European companies sectors, metal banking sector. Our analysis reveals there more room GRI side, even though discussed use variety initiatives falling within wide concept bioeconomy.
